After a brief discussion with Ms. Lyn Decker in Osher Lifelong Learning Center, CMU, the following is brought about onto my schedule:
- Start the second round of the draft design which will address the following issues
*Daylight redirecting and thermal comfort of north facing living unit
*Building appearance: adding more details to make it less institutional / industrial
*Integrating the need of a management center for OSHER
- Make a brief presentation of the project
- Figure out what questions to ask when interviewing the elderly
- Arrange a space for interviewing the elderly
Side note:
Ms. Lyn Decker has mentioned to me, creating the connection between the young and the old might not be as easy. The society might not be respecting / cherishing the elderly as I anticipated and the young people might not want to establish such a connection although the connection might in reality be helpful to both of the age groups. However, on the other hand, this is where architects come into play. A well-designed space will attract all ages and thus facilitate the connection as desired.
